Look around you. Start by seeing what is in your direct vicinity, chances are you have a couple of pieces of furniture around, some clothes, the device you are using to see this, now look a little beyond, look at the walls that surround you, the faucets and like systems. If I were to bet that at least 90% of what you see has been created, innovated and or designed, would I win the bet? That’s just what you see directly, what lies beneath and beyond, on other levels you will find CID in the greater majority also. You do not for example see the factory where the bricks of your home were produced, the equipment, the processes, the interactions. None of which would be possible without CID influence. That which gives us the most power as a collective started through simple creations. Scribbles on cave walls. Who cares what cave men did? Well, those scribbles evolved into recognizable symbols which we use to exploit our intelligence to its full capacity. If we did not have the written word, would we be able to create all that is in our environments as is? Yes, it may be undeniable that we cause havoc and destroy a lot with our inventions, but comparative to your existential state, just how valuable do you find your waste disposal systems, transportation, accommodation, clothing and even food? If you were to produce just half of what enables you to enjoy life, would you be able to? Do you know how to make a cellular phone, a car, a home? Could you mine the raw materials, process it into usable products, then construct what ever it is that you want? You could build a home, maybe some form of transportation, but a cellphone? And that’s just the basics. How about business? Aside from the obvious relating to the previous sentence, would marketeers be able to sell without creative persuasion? Would the economy exist on the scale it does without all that is creating demand? Would you be able to sell a pair of shoes that cost less than $1 to make for $240, large companies be able to function without the tools and equipment they use? What makes someone fork out a couple of thousand dollars for a Tesla when they could as well use a bicycle costing only a fraction of the price (in city life)? Money is not necessarily easy to come by, and yet many give it away in exchange for ephemeral pleasures and experiences. Hi, I’m Candice Storm, a South African born experience designer living in Amsterdam, a city buzzing with CID from Art to Technology in all areas of business and society. In the following sessions I will be exploring the true value and worth of CID. Aside from interviews and talks, I will also be creating multimedia here on my experience page with which I wish to bring you along as I try to find ways to demonstrate the value and impact of creativity, innovation and design. Analysing & Synthesising UX Research at Glovo | Ladies that UX Milan

Research analysis and synthesis can be quite extensive and energy-draining steps within the UX Research process. Yet both are key to distilling relevant actionable outcomes. It’s especially true if you are navigating a fast-paced, disruptive professional reality like Glovo. Your UX Research process should have quality, speed, and pragmatism in good balance. How might we make this process more structured, meaningful and more fun in the remote environment? Join us on May 18th to hear Valentina Salvi, an Italian UX Researcher and Service Designer, sharing her take on this challenge by demonstrating her process and its benefits. About the speaker: Valentina is an Italian UX Researcher and Service Designer based in Barcelona who loves shaping meaningful experiences that people love. Her academic and professional experience spans 6 countries and she leverages qualitative research, co-creation and human-centred design for teams to innovate effectively, with the end-users in mind.Entertainment

Trine Falbe on Designing for Kids is not a Game at SmashingConf Freiburg 2018
Read more
The children of today are growing up in a different paradigm than their parents, who might even remember what the world was like before the Internet! This impacts the way they perceive and interact with the world around them, especially with digital products. In this talk, Trine will explain how kids develop and learn, and how to design digital products that help them grow rather than dumb them down.Making better products with White Hat UX | Codegarden 2019

At Codegarden 2019, owner of Falbe UX Consult Trine Falbe talked about White Hat UX as a competitive advantage. Talk summary: You may be familiar with the term “the experience is the product”. If you’re building a product, you’re building an experience. The importance of digital projects is rising, e-commerce is growing, and the battle for the online market is intensifying. With it, follows an increased motivation to cheat and the methods to do so get more sophisticated by the minute. This is where Black Hat UX happens. UX with evil intent. Black Hat UX is not just the designer’s fault. Or the developer’s. Or management’s. It’s a shared responsibility. In the end, you get better results if you design good, fun, exciting, lovely, interesting and real user experiences. White Hat User experiences. White Hat UX is a powerful competitive advantage. It also makes for a good business case when done right. In this talk, Trine will explain what we can all do to improve the experience of the products we build, regardless of our role.
